Zed graduated from University of Zagreb with a BSc (Honours) in Biology in 1980 and a MSc in Cell Biology in 1984. He was awarded a PhD in Agronomy & Botany from Louisiana State University in 1988.
He received 3 teaching and 34 research awards and 12 honorary professorships. His h-index is 63 (Web of Science).
He works at University of Western Australia. His main interests are in soil-root interactions.
